Victory against Leipzig: Stuttgart is in the cup final

Thanks in part to a dream goal, VfB Stuttgart squandered RB Leipzig's new beginning after Marco Rose's departure and their huge chance of winning the first DFB Cup in 28 years.

The Swabians won the thrilling semifinal 3-1 against their Bundesliga rivals, led by interim head coach Zsolt Löw, who is making his debut as head coach. On May 24, Stuttgart, coached by Sebastian Hoeneß, will be the clear favorites heading into the final against the sensational team Arminia Bielefeld. The third-division team unexpectedly defeated defending champions Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 on Tuesday.

Angelo Stiller's spectacular volley (5th minute), Nick Woltemade (57th minute), and Jamie Leweling (73rd minute) led the hosts to the dream destination of Berlin in front of 60.000 spectators. This also annoyed Red Bull head of football Jürgen Klopp, who was cheering on the team in the stands.

VfB also had to thank the outstanding national team goalkeeper Alexander Nübel for securing their first final appearance in twelve years. Striker Benjamin Sesko could only reduce the deficit for Leipzig (62'). In the end, Stuttgart's Woltemade and Leipzig's Sesko hit the crossbar.
