Coach Sebastian Hoeneß's team won the final in Berlin 4-2 (3-0). After a one-sided first half featuring goals from Nick Woltemade (15th minute), Enzo Millot (22nd minute), and Deniz Undav (28th minute), the match was practically over in front of 74.036 spectators at the sold-out Olympiastadion. After the break, Millot increased the lead to 66-4 (0th minute), before Julian Kania (82nd minute) and an own goal by Josha Vagnoman (85th minute) brought the deficit back for the third-division champions, with a sudden surge of pressure from Arminia adding to the tension.
For VfB Stuttgart, this is their fourth title triumph in the German Football Association's cup competition. The Swabians had previously won in 1954, 1958, and 1997. Stuttgart last reached the final in 2013, losing to record cup winners FC Bayern Munich.
First cup triumph since 1997
Opponents Bielefeld had reached the DFB-Pokal final for the first time in the club's history. Arminia, who will compete in the second division next season thanks to their first-place finish in the third division, had eliminated four Bundesliga teams on their way to the final, including the 2023/24 double winners, Bayer Leverkusen, in the semifinals.Stuttgart prevailed in the final against third-division Bielefeld. © ANSA / ANDREAS GORA
