Thomas Müller leaves Europe

Thomas Müller has confirmed that he will continue his active career as a footballer and is considering a move to North America.

“The MLS is an interesting league, especially with the World Cup in America in mind,” said the 35-year-old during a promotional shoot in a video that BILD published.

The TV channel Sky had reported that Müller would soon sign a contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) in the USA. Müller now said: "I still want to play soccer – and have therefore decided to continue playing no matter what. I will continue to be a soccer player." The 2014 World Cup winner clarified that Europe plays no role in his plans.

“I still love the football stage and the pressure” Thomas Müller

"It will definitely be an experience abroad, and I'm really looking forward to it. Accordingly, I'm curious. When you leave Bayern, the conditions are different. I'm relaxed, but I'm still starting to feel excited," said Müller, who didn't receive a new contract with his beloved club, FC Bayern. He still loves the football stage and the pressure of having to perform.

After a quarter of a century – with 13 league titles, six DFB Cup victories, and two Champions League triumphs – an era is coming to an end at FC Bayern. Müller had previously only played for the Munich club as a professional.

Müller like Schweinsteiger once was?

For a long time, it was unclear whether the fan favorite would end his career or try again with another club. The MLS, which has been home to numerous stars of mature football age for years, appears to be an attractive alternative. Müller recently flirted with "more distant and exotic countries" as possible destinations.

Former Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger once ended his career in the USA. Müller's former German national team teammate Marco Reus is currently playing successfully for LA Galaxy, likely in his final season. Superstar Lionel Messi plays for Inter Miami in the MLS.
