For 95 million euros: Liverpool signs Frankfurt star

The mega-transfer of Eintracht Frankfurt's top striker Hugo Ekitiké to Liverpool FC is confirmed, according to consistent media reports.

The 23-year-old Frenchman will move to the English football champions with immediate effect, as the TV station Sky and transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano report. The transfer fee is said to be around 95 million euros. Ekitiké has reportedly signed a six-year contract with the Reds until summer 2031. Neither club has yet confirmed the transfer. Ekitiké would be the next big signing from the Bundesliga, following international Florian Wirtz, who is also being courted by Bayern Munich. Jeremie Frimpong is also moving from Leverkusen to Liverpool.

With the sale of Ekitiké, Eintracht Frankfurt has achieved another huge profit. At the beginning of the year, Frankfurt sold striker Omar Marmoush to Manchester City for €75 million. Almost two years ago, striker Kolo Muani moved to Paris Saint-Germain for €95 million. This deal is now being financially equalized.

Eintracht makes a big profit

Ekitiké joined Eintracht Frankfurt from PSG at the beginning of 2024 – initially on loan, then as a permanent signing last summer for a reported €16,5 million. Last season, he contributed 22 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.

Liverpool's league rivals Newcastle United also tried to sign Ekitiké. However, the Magpies rejected an offer reportedly worth up to €80 million. Instead of playing for Eintracht or Newcastle, Ekitiké will now play for Liverpool.
