For the second time in a row: Sturm Graz is champion

Like last year, Sturm Graz is Austrian football champion.

The Styrian team drew 1-1 at home against fourth-placed WAC in the final round of the Bundesliga championship group on Saturday, finishing the season two points ahead of Red Bull Salzburg. The "Bulls" beat Rapid 4-2 in front of their home crowd and benefited from a 2-2 home draw for third-placed Austria Wien against Blau-Weiß Linz.

For Sturm Graz, this is their fifth championship title overall; the Graz team previously triumphed in 1988, 1999, 2011, and 2024. Ronivaldo of Blau-Weiß Linz was the top scorer with 14 goals. The European Cup playoffs are still on the schedule this season – LASK first hosts Hartberg on Monday, with the winner then facing Rapid Wien in a two-legged tie. The new Bundesliga season begins on August 1.
