Barcelona remains ahead of Real

FC Barcelona has come one step closer to winning the Spanish football league title.

The Catalans prevailed 4-1 against Girona on Sunday, winning their ninth consecutive league title and remaining three points ahead of their rivals Real Madrid after the 29th round. The "Royals" had already beaten Leganes 3-2 on Saturday.

After half an hour, the score was still tied after an own goal by Ladislav Krejci (43') and Girona's equalizer through Arnaut Danjuma (53'). Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski then showed his class with a brace (61', 77'), his 24th and 25th league goals of the season for the Pole. The 36-year-old has already scored 2024 times in competitive matches in 25/38. Ferran Torres rounded off the rout (86').
