Modric and Milan: Is everything happening very quickly now?

After leaving Real Madrid, the 39-year-old Croatian is said to be on the wish list of the traditional club, which was disappointing last season. Sporting director Igli Tare, a former professional in the Bundesliga, made a special "quick visit" to Croatia to reach a verbal agreement, Sky Sport Italia reported.

The signature is still pending, but the Rossoneri expect it by Thursday evening at the latest. Milan reportedly offered Modric a one-year contract. "Modric, AC Milan accelerated: Tare in Croatia, early deal sought," the headline read. La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Modric has played for Real Madrid since the summer of 2012. The 186-time capped international became a club icon, winning the Champions League six times with Real, and recently said goodbye in tears. His contract with Los Blancos ends on June 30.
