After collapsing on the field: How is Edoardo Bove doing

After anxious hours, there is good news about Fiorentina professional Edoardo Bove, who collapsed in the middle of the game on Sunday.

It was a scene that caused enormous shock in Serie A and far beyond. Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove suffered cardiac arrest in the middle of the match against Inter on Sunday and had to be resuscitated.

Dramatic scenes unfolded on the field: players cried, fans prayed, rescue workers rushed to the scene. They immediately took Bove to the Careggi University Hospital in Florence, where the Fiorentina professional spent the night - and was put into an artificial deep sleep in the intensive care unit.

Bove is approachable

The all-clear was already given in the evening when it was announced that Bove was in a stable condition and that doctors could not detect any acute damage to his nervous system or to his heart and lung function. On Monday there was more good news: as several Italian newspapers reported, Bove had been brought out of artificial sleep. He was awake and was able to answer some questions.

News that has made the whole of Italy breathe a sigh of relief. There will probably be more news in the next few hours. Incidentally, the match between Fiorentina and Inter was abandoned after the medical emergency.
