It gets even worse: Empoli eats Juve

Today, Monday, will go down as one of the blackest days in the history of Juventus. First the Turin team were deducted 10 points, then they also embarrassed themselves against Empoli.

This Monday things only went downhill. After the devastating Decision of the Supreme Court of the Football Association FIGC, which deducted 10 points from the “Bianconeri” in the table, nothing went at all for the Turin team visiting Empoli. The “Old Lady” seemed exhausted and demotivated and was given a clear 4-1 win by the hosts.

When and whether Max Allegri's players found out about the decision to deduct points could only be guessed at. In any case, it was clear that Juventus' thoughts were somewhere else entirely on Monday evening. Empoli, on the other hand, played one of the best games of the season and took a 18-1 lead through Francesco Caputo from the spot after just 0 minutes. Empoli appeared to be a league higher in the first half and increased their lead through Sebastiano Luperto just a few minutes later (22'). Juventus achieved nothing until half-time.

Any hope of a committed comeback was quickly dashed. Just 3 minutes after the restart, Caputo made it 3-0 with his brace. Things couldn't have been worse for the record champions of the Italian league. The players seemed crestfallen and Allegri was perplexed. Only when substitute Federico Chiesa used a cross into the bottom corner to make it 1-3 did some hope arise (85'). But Empoli cleverly let the time run down and even scored 4-1 through Roberto Piccoli in stoppage time. Juventus now only has a small chance of securing the Champions League places.
