At the Allianz Stadium: Excitement until the end

On Matchday 5 of Serie A, Juventus hosted Atalanta at home, and the game remained exciting until the very end.

Juventus and Atalanta, two teams that had made strong starts to the new season, faced off on Saturday evening. The Allianz Stadium spectators were treated to a well-balanced game, with the home side only coming into their own towards the end. However, the outcome was a 1-1 draw.

Both teams played cautiously in the first half. Just when many had already settled for a 0-0 halftime score, the visitors struck with icy coolness: After Adzic lost possession in his own half, Sulemana seized the ball, made almost the entire Juve defense look bad, and finally scored with a low, diagonal shot (45'+1').

Crazy final phase

After the break, the Old Lady tried hard and attacked constantly, but never really threatened. The equalizer came almost out of nowhere: Atalanta defender Kossounou failed to clear a cross from Joao Mario, and the ball remained in the hot zone. Cabal reacted quickest and fired the ball over the line (78').

After visiting captain De Roon was sent off shortly afterwards with a second yellow card, Juve sensed an opportunity to snatch the three points. They almost made it 2-1, but McKennie's effort from a corner was too weak and too central (88').

Inter wins in Sardinia

Inter, on the other hand, celebrated a hard-fought 2-0 victory at Cagliari in Sardinia. Captain Lautaro Martinez put the visitors ahead after just a few minutes (9'), but then nothing happened for a long time. Cagliari were particularly more present in attack after the break, with the highlight of the match coming when Folorunsho hit the crossbar following a corner (74').

Shortly before the final whistle, substitute Pio Esposito made it 2-0 after a pass from Dimarco – he was in the perfect position in the middle (82'). Interestingly, the two brothers Pio (Inter) and Sebastiano Esposito (Cagliari) faced each other for the first time in Serie A on Saturday – and they both wear the same number, 94.
