Inter does not accept Lazio's gift

On Sunday evening, the Derby d'Italia between Juventus and Inter, the top match of the 25th round of Serie A, took place in Turin. Champions Inter squandered a great opportunity to go top of the table.

Everything was set up for a real football treat in Turin. On the one hand, Juventus desperately needed points to avoid losing valuable points in the fight for the Champions League places, while Inter after Napoli's draw could have taken the lead in the table with a win.

In an exciting match with numerous chances on both sides, the reigning champions from Milan started the match better. Simone Inzaghi's team moved the ball well and had the best chance to take the lead through Denzel Dumfries: the Dutchman only hit the post on a counterattack. In contrast, Juventus were dangerous in transition play.

In the second half, the Turin team pushed harder for the lead and were rewarded in the 74th minute by Francisco Conceição. The Portuguese was in the right place after a scramble in Inter's penalty area and scored the winning goal into the far corner to great acclaim. For Milan, who are now two points behind league leaders Napoli, it was their second away defeat in a row.

Before that, Udinese won 3-0 at home against Empoli. Fiorentina suffered their second defeat in a row against Como. The Tuscans lost 0-2. Roma secured an important 1-0 away victory at Parma. The match between Monza and Lecce ended goalless.
