Lazio stumbles against Pisa

Two Serie A matches took place on Thursday evening. While Lazio disappointed against Pisa, Sassuolo secured important points.

Lazio Rome could only manage a 0-0 draw against newly promoted Pisa SC on Wednesday evening. While the visitors dominated large stretches of the game and enjoyed more control with 61 percent possession, they lacked ideas in the final third. Pisa defended compactly and looked to counter-attack, while Lazio, despite good chances for Basic and Isaksen, were thwarted by the excellent goalkeeper Adrian Semper.

The match remained evenly balanced after the break. Both teams had half-chances, but neither Pedro nor Vecino for Roma, nor Nzola for Pisa, could find the back of the net. In the end, a draw was a fair reflection of the game – plenty of effort, but little flair.

Sassuolo Calcio, on the other hand, had reason to celebrate: The Neroverdi prevailed 2-1 against Cagliari Calcio. Laurienté and Pinamonti scored for the visitors, while Esposito pulled one back for Cagliari. Sassuolo now sits in 10th place in the table, while the Sardinians remain in 14th with 9 points.
