Upside down world in northern Italy: Bologna hui, Verona ugh

On Friday evening, FC Bologna and Hellas Verona met in Serie A. One thing became clear: the moods of the two clubs couldn't be more different.

Both FC Bologna and Hellas Verona have a great tradition in Italian football, with both having won the Scudetto. However, those times were long ago. In recent years, both the Venetians and the Emilians have been fighting either against relegation or for midfield positions. But FC Bologna has taken a huge step forward this season, as demonstrated by Friday's 2-0 home win against Verona.

Since Thiago Motta took over as manager of the red-blue team, the team has been unrecognizable. Suddenly Bologna is playing courageously forward and is shaping one of the most attractive playing styles in Serie A. The former Inter strategist's young team has now even climbed to a Champions League place. Particularly outstanding in the Bologna offensive: Joshua Zirkzee. The former FC Bayern striker talent can hardly be held at the front and is now being hunted by half of Europe.
