a Serie B

Matteo Rover led the FCS to victory.

Victory of character: FC Südtirol wins with 10 men!

Hats off to this FC Südtirol: The white and reds won in Cosenza on Sunday, despite having to play with fewer players for half a game.

After four defeats in the last five games, there were already reports of a mini-crisis. FCS has successfully recovered from this. Fabian Tait & Co. won the away game in Cosenza 2-0 and climbed up to sixth place in the Serie B table.

The FCS took the lead after just seven minutes thanks to a solo effort by Matteo Rover. This was the 25-year-old's third goal of the season. Then came the shock shortly before half-time. Jasmin Kurtic was sent off with a red card for allegedly insulting the referee. The Slovenian is said to have called for the half-time whistle. What Kurtic said exactly could not be seen on the TV images. In any case, the 35-year-old was ranting like a madman.

To make matters worse, the second half was delayed by around half an hour due to technical problems with the referee team. But FCS did not let this get them down and defended consistently in a 3-5-1 system. In the 74th minute, substitute newcomer Karim Zedadka made the decision. Raphael Kofler deserves special praise for once again shining in the three-man defense.

The highlights

Rover! After seven minutes, FCS suddenly took the lead. After the halfway line, Rover played a one-two with Odogwu. The winger was unstoppable, entered the penalty area and pushed the ball into the far corner with his left foot.
Red for KurticIn stoppage time in the first half, Kurtic was suddenly shown a red card after a corner. The Slovenian was protesting against the referee's long stoppage time. What Kurtic said exactly cannot be seen on the TV images. In any case, the FCS midfield engine was cursing like a madman as he left the pitch and couldn't calm down.
Zedadcka! The next great goal from FCS. Merkaj passes to Zedadcka, who also came on as a substitute, who scores a great goal from distance to make it 2-0. Is that the preliminary decision with 20 minutes to go? Yes, because nothing else happens after that.

FC Südtirol will not resume play until after the international break in two weeks. Then, on Saturday, October 19, the home game against league leaders Pisa is scheduled. The fact is: FCS has now had some peace and quiet for the first time.
