Wine tasting: Football legend visits Eppan
The St. Michael-Eppan winery has seen a lot. Locals, tourists and even the odd celebrity have passed through the wide winery gates. But when this request came, the initial reaction was one of surprise: a Brazilian world champion wanted to come to the wine tasting.

"We don't get to see that every day," reveals Katja Bicciato from the St. Michael-Eppan winery. She had prepared the grand reception for the football star, and on Friday afternoon the time had come: Marcos Evangelista de Moraes, or in one word Cafu, arrived in Eppan with his entourage.
Cafu is considered one of the best right-backs in football history. He won the World Cup twice with Brazil (2 and 1994), he won the Italian championship with Roma and Milan, he won the Champions League, the Copa América, the Coppa Libertadores and the European Super Cup. In short: Cafu is one of the most successful players that the football super nation of Brazil has ever produced.
A lover of Eppan wines
Due to this success, the now 54-year-old is still in demand 16 years after the end of his career. As part of the renowned Festival dello Sport, which is currently taking place in Trento, Cafu paid a surprise visit to the St. Michael-Eppan winery yesterday. Cellar master Jakob Gasser welcomed the Brazilian, his partner, his manager and his lawyer, as well as their companions, and looked with them at the grape harvest that has just come to an end.Cellar master Jakob Gasser, Cafu and its manager Vincenzo Aliotta (from left).
Cafu was enthusiastic: "I love the landscape here. I have known the Eppan wines for a long time and really wanted to taste them on site." After a short tour of the cellar and a wine tasting, he returned to Trento.Edit Profile
