In the style of a master: Neumarkt wins summit meeting

Over the course of the season, KK Neumarkt has faltered several times this year. At the same time, Fugger Sterzing were in strong form and not only came close to their fiercest rivals, but also held the lead in the table for several match days. It was therefore clear that the direct duel could also decide the championship. That took place last Saturday and in the end it was Neumarkt who were celebrating again - even though Fugger once again put up a brave fight.

But there was no way around Neumarkt's pros. Erik Kuna won his duel against former Neumarkt player Florian Thaler with 646:591 pins (3:1 in set points). And Tamás Kiss once again played from a different bowling world. The Italo-Hungarian really beat Lorenz Höller and won with 695:547 pins (4:0 in set points) - a world-class performance.

Armin Egger also played a top game at Neumarkt. The Jenesier scored 651 pins and won his match against Egon Ralser (601 pins), even though both won 2 sets each.

Alex Posch won Neumarkt's 4th point in the last duel against Manuel Hofer, which was extremely exciting. Both scored 2 set points, but Posch knocked down 3 more pins than Hofer (609:606) and thus got the point.

Stefan Zini and Reinhard Gruber scored points for the Fugger Sterzing. Zini beat Georg Righi with 589:573 pins (3:1 in set points). Gruber, on the other hand, faced Neumarkt's captain Wolfgang Blaas and won a high-class duel with 646:619 (3:1 in set points). But that was of no use to the Fuggers: In the overall result, Neumarkt was clearly ahead with 3793:3580 pins and thus took the last two match points.

Neumarkt has now taken the lead in the table and has all the cards in its hands. If they slip up, the Fuggers would be right back in the game - so mathematically nothing has been decided yet.

Burggräfler in ambush position This victory in the highest women's league comes with a big exclamation mark! The Burggräfler team beat Tirol Mutspitz 5:1 on Thursday evening and are now sniffing around the top spots - only 3 points away from third place.

Tirol Mutspitz is in 4th place and would have overtaken Kiens with a win. But Gabriele Gamper & Co. now have to be careful, because Burggräfler, Vöran Blecherne, Sarnthein and Plose are breathing down their necks with 3 or less points behind them. The race for the prestigious 3rd place is therefore more open than ever.

The Burggräfler team got off to a convincing start in the Riffian fire station. Mirjam Kofler met Tyrol's Silvia Gaiser and won with 543:526 pins (3:1 in the set points). The second duel was hard to beat in terms of excitement: Natalie Prantl from the Burggräfler team had Gabriele Gamper from Tirol Mutspitz in front of her and held her own. Prantl won the first set, then Gamper turned the game around in sets 2 and 3 and Prantl scored again in the last one. The pins result had to decide and here Gamper was ahead by 5 pins (543:538).

But it was to be the only point that Tirol Mutspitz scored. Judith Gasser was in brilliant form in the next duel, knocking down 586 pins and thus winning all 4 set points against Tirol's Dora Rinner, who scored 533 pins. And in the last duel, Helene Gasser also showed her best side. The Burggräflerin scored 565 pins and gave Jasmin Ladurner no chance with 522 pins (3:1 in set points).

There was no doubt about the overall result either. The Burggräflerinnen knocked down 2232 pins as a team, while Tirol Mutspitz knocked down 2124 pins. The last two match points therefore went to Burggräfler and the 5:1 victory was secured.

At the top of the table, Fugger Sterzing and Villnöß continue to march away from everyone. Sterzing can mathematically be crowned champions in the next match day against Kiens - but there have been no doubts about that for some time now.
