Brixen's bouldering king is called Yannick Flohé

The music is getting louder, the mood is rising - the final of the Boulder World Cup in Brixen was a sporting experience that is second to none. 6 athletes from 4 nations competed against each other in the final at 19 p.m. They all had just one goal: to secure victory on this fifth World Cup stage. But no one could get past the combined world champion Yannick Flohé from Germany on this warm summer evening. He made the more than 1000 fans glow and was crowned the bouldering king of Brixen with 2 tops and 4 zones. The 21-year-old Englishman Maximillian Milne had to settle for second place. The Japanese Tomoa Narasaki (2 bouldering world champion) completed the podium.

Flohé shook the stands from the start. He had some difficulties on the second boulder. The Englishman Maximillian Milne, on the other hand, made it to the top right there - to loud cheers from the audience. On the third boulder there was a standing ovation when Flohé reached the top. He was the only one in the field who managed to solve it. “The final went really well,” said a visibly pleased Flohé. “Making the first top gave me a lot of energy. I had some difficulties with the second one. Then I surprised myself when I managed the third boulder, which I actually didn't like at all. However, I was confident again on the last of the four boulder routes that had to be conquered.” Milne and the Strange Spell Good and, above all, determined, the Englishman Milne brings home 2 tops and 3 zones: “It was an intense competition that I really enjoyed. I don't even know how I managed to do this today - probably through some strange magic. The audience was great. I have good memories of Brixen, where I already won a bronze medal at the European Youth Championships. Today’s podium finish is fantastic.”

The Japanese Tomoa Narasaki finished the competition in Brixen today in third place. He fought with heart and soul until the end to reach the top. “It was really difficult today. The boulders were hard and I was still very tired from the semifinals. That’s why I didn’t make it to the top, but I’m still happy,” says Narasaki. 3-year-old Korean Dohyun Lee slipped to fourth place; he reached the first final of his career in Brixen. Overall World Cup leader Yoshiyuki Ogata had to settle for fifth place, while Meichi Narasaki finished the final in sixth place. Baptism of fire passed with flying colors Today in Brixen the audience was able to see for themselves the magic of bouldering, which visibly reached the crowd. At around 22 p.m. the lights went out in the Vertical Climbing Center in Brixen. Even though the first Boulder World Cup in Brixen is now history, there is a lot that will remain in the memory: not just emotions and top sporting achievements, but also a successful organization that the South Tyrol Alpine Club can take pride in.

The next World Cup stage is scheduled for the end of the month, from June 22nd to 26th, in Innsbruck. Only time will tell whether there will be another World Cup in Brixen. In any case, the organizers mastered the baptism of fire with flying colors.
