Sexten in climbing fever

Last weekend, the fourth stage of the Junior Cup and the regional lead climbing championship took place at the "Sport Sexten" climbing hall. Over 220 young athletes from across the region participated in this exciting competition.

On Saturday, athletes in the U17, U19, and U21 categories competed. They competed not only in the Junior Cup, but also in the Regional Championship. The senior athletes, i.e., all climbers in the aforementioned categories, competed here. Full of motivation, they tackled the climbing challenges, which had been excellently prepared by the route-setting team led by Stefan Scarperi.

Sofia Brenna (Arco Climbing) and Dario Cadonau (AVS Meran) took first place in the U17 category of the Junior Cup. Nadia Insam of AVS Meran took second place. Kathrin Mock (AVS Bozen) and Fritz Engele (AVS Meran) won the U19 category, and Elsa Giupponi (AVS Meran) and Samuel Perntaler (AVS Brixen) won the U21 category.

The tension reached its peak in the men's regional championship final, where two athletes achieved a tie. Based on the previous qualification results, Fritz Engele (AVS Meran) was ultimately crowned the winner. Samuel Perntaler (AVS Brixen) took second place, followed by David Grasl (AVS Passeier).
In the senior women’s category, Sofia Brenna (Arco Climbing) won the gold medal, followed by Nadia Insam (AVS Meran) and Vanessa Atz (AVS St. Pauls).

Excitement also on Sunday

The Junior Cup ran smoothly not only on Saturday, but also on Sunday. Athletes in the U15 and U13 categories competed. Numerous parents, siblings, and friends were in attendance, cheering them on. Sophie Pederiva (AVS Brixen) and Simon Fill (AVS Brixen) demonstrated their skills, each taking first place in the U13 category. In the U15 category, Jakob Hofer (AVS Passeier) and Chiara Franceschi (Arco Climbing) earned a well-deserved victory in lead climbing.

The next round of the Junior Cup will take place on the weekend of April 12 and 13 at the Heliks climbing center in Bruneck. This lead competition also promises exciting competitive climbing.
