Andreas Zagler new U18 Italian champion in javelin throwing

Zagler dominated the competition and won silver with 59,84m and the bronze medalist Luca Trombaiolli (59.71m) with a lead of almost three and a half meters over Jordan Zinelli from Veronese. Despite the bad weather (rain, wind and wintry temperatures), Hans Pircher's student improved his personal best by exactly one meter and increased it to 63,28m, the new Italian best for the year.

Kofler and Seppi miss the podium However, Franziska Kofler in the high jump and Lisa Seppi in the long jump narrowly missed out on a medal. Kofler jumped 1,63m in the third attempt, like third-placed Eleonora Schertel, but the SV Lana athlete failed twice at 1,60m, while Schertel managed this height in the first attempt. The title went to Eleonora Omoregie, ahead of Erika Furlani. Both jumped 1,74m.

In the long jump, Lisa Seppi improved her personal best by four centimeters to 5,60m. That was enough for fourth place, just two centimeters behind bronze medalist Valentina Kalmykova, the daughter of a former Russian long jumper. Eleonora Andreis from Verona took gold with 4m, silver went to the World Cup finalist from Donetsk, Benedetta Cuneo (5,86).

Stefanie Messner 5th in the shot put Stefanie Messner also did very well in the shot put. She came fifth with 12,70m. The 17-year-old from SSV Brixen improved by 20 centimeters and narrowly missed out on a medal. The 4x100 m relay team from Athletic Club Bozen with Leonardo Pasquetto, Raffaele Fusaro, Ruben Cola and Alessandro Monte also took 5th place. The two top ten placings over 1500 m still need to be mentioned: Marco Spagnolli from Bolzano came ninth among the boys with 4:07.24 minutes, while Anna Lena Hofer from Meran came 4th among the girls in 51.26:10 minutes .

Tomorrow the U18 title fights will conclude in Jesolo. Petra Nardelli from the Bozen Running Club was able to qualify for the final of the 58.55m with the second best time (400) and Caren Agreiter from Puster is in the final of the 400 hurdles, where she has the fifth time (1:04.46). It's a shame that the exceptional sprinter Julia Calliari had to miss the start due to a minor injury.
