Successful start to the season in Oberplanitzing

The focus of the cross-country race in Überetsch was the U14, U16 and U18 competitions, in which the national championship titles were also awarded. Gabriel Pichler won the boys' U18 race. The athlete from SC Meran won on the 4,5 km long route in a good 13.53 minutes ahead of last year's winner and teammate David Agethle (14.03). For the girls, however, the title went to Val Gardena. Sofia Demetz put Emma Ghirardello Pichler from Merano and Vanessa Russo (Merano Atletica) in their place. The boys' U16 title went to Leo Pedo from the Südtirol Team Club. Pedo finished the 3 km run in 9.30 minutes and was 22 seconds faster than Ivan Nobile from Meran. Lukas Baumgartner from Kalter came third. In the women's category, Lena Trenkwalder from ASV Sterzing was able to hold her own in front of the two Merano women Magdalena Pircher and Katja Mitterhofer. The U16 and U18 races were also a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Italian Cross Country Championships on March 11th in Gubbio. In the girls' U14 category, Alex Lageder from LG Schlern and Klara Alber (SC Meran) were at the top. Many young talents from the U8-10-12 age groups also took part in Oberplanitzing. Maximilian Andergassen, Hannes Prossliner, Ivan Bacher as well as Anna Fischnelller, Damaris Vatamniuc and Theresa Seehauser secured their age categories. The results Buben U18, 4,5 km: 1. Successful start to the season in Oberplanitzing

Traditionally, the seventh edition of the “Georgs-Turm-Cross” in Oberplanitzing marked the start of the 2023 competition season on Sunday. More than 100 athletes from the U8 to U18 age groups took part.
