The U20 and U23 titles will be awarded in Rieti

From Friday 26 to Sunday 28 July, the Italian Athletics Championships for the U20 and U23 age groups will take place in Rieti. Numerous South Tyrolean athletes will also take part in the event, which will be held in Lazio.

In Rieti, where a total of 82 Italian championship titles will be awarded this weekend, almost 1.700 athletes from 316 different clubs are registered. Not only the coveted "Tricolori" are at stake, but also the last tickets for the important international competitions of the season. Some U20-year-olds still want to qualify for the World Championships in Lima, Peru (from August 27 to 31).

Among the participants are also many young hopefuls from the region. Alessia Goffi is hoping to have a say in the medals in Rieti. The Val Gardena native is in fourth place in the U20 javelin throw with 44.82 m, and Goffi could also cause a surprise in the shot put (5th with 11.76 m).

Many promises for the future

High jumper Laura Hofer from SV Lana and 400 m hurdler Agata D'Angelo (SG Eisacktal) also have outsider chances. It is also exciting to see the performance of 100 m hurdler Marie Burger. The U23 athlete from Vahrn presented herself with the ninth fastest time of 14.17 seconds. The three aces from the Bozen club Athletic Club 96, Federico Lorenzo Bruno (three), Alberto Murari (high jump) and Federico Mogetti (1500 m), have very good chances of a top placing.
