Gianmarco Tamberi has become a father: Italy's athletics legend announced the happy news via Instagram.

On Thursday afternoon, the daughter of the Olympic high jump champion and his wife Chiara Bontempi was born in Ancona. "Our miracle. Welcome to the world, Camilla Tamberi Bontempi, we will give you all the love we have." With little Camilla, Tamberi became a father for the first time.

Tamberi is one of the most successful high jumpers in the world. His greatest triumph was winning the gold medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, which he shared with Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim in a memorable moment. Tamberi is also the 2023 World Champion and the 2016 European Champion.

The 33-year-old holds the Italian high jump record with a height of 2,39 meters (indoor) and is known for his emotional style, charismatic presence and his trademark of shaving only one side of his face – a symbol of his unconventional personality and fighting spirit.
