According to media reports, Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda, who drives for the Racing Bulls, will replace Liam Lawson, who was promoted to the main team before the season. The New Zealander has not scored a point in the two Grand Prix races so far. Tsunoda is expected to be teammate to world champion Max Verstappen at his home Grand Prix on April 6 in Suzuka.
According to reports, the change will become official later this week. Lawson replaced the disappointing Sergio Perez after the last World Championship, but the 23-year-old failed to impress in Australia and China. Tsunoda, on the other hand, scored three World Championship points in Shanghai by finishing sixth in the sprint. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner emphasized after the race that Lawson would receive the best possible support.
