50 years ago: Jochen Rindt dies in Parabolica

Nina Rindt sat on the pit wall in Monza on this late summer day, her face pale as wax. She sat there and she waited. To the confirmation of a terrible premonition, which shortly later manifested itself into a cruel certainty. Jackie Stewart, the world champion, rushed over, he leaned very close to Nina Rindt and said what the young woman had always feared: “Jochen had a serious accident.”
