Aprilia double victory at the season finale

Marco Bezzecchi won the Grand Prix of Valencia after his victory in Portugal at the end of the MotoGP season.

The Italian, who started from pole position, won on Sunday ahead of his Aprilia teammate Raul Fernandez and Fabio Di Giannantonio on a Ducati. Fourth-placed Pedro Acosta lost a potential next podium finish for KTM to Di Giannantonio in the closing stages. Runner-up world champion Alex Marquez had to settle for sixth place on his Ducati.

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) ended up in the gravel trap on the very first lap. The two-time champion retired for the fifth time in a row in front of the world champion Marc Marquez, who has been sidelined with an injury for weeks.

Brad Binder was the second-best KTM rider in the final race, finishing eighth. In the overall standings, Acosta, who had a brilliant second half of the season with several podium finishes, came fourth behind the Marquez brothers and Bezzecchi. However, the Austrian KTM team failed to secure a race win during the 22-round season.
