Marquez triumphs also in Hungary

Marc Marquez continued his winning streak in MotoGP and further extended his commanding lead in the World Championship in Hungary.

The 32-year-old Ducati star celebrated his seventh consecutive Grand Prix victory on Sunday at the premiere of the premier motorcycle class at the Balaton Park Circuit on the eastern side of Lake Balaton.

"Best of the Rest" was fellow Spaniard Pedro Acosta. The 21-year-old secured second place, his second podium finish and the best result of the season for KTM.

For Marquez, it was his tenth victory in 14 races of the season. His ninth world championship title, his seventh in the premier class and his first since 2019, now seems a mere formality. Marquez leads his brother Alex by 175 points and could mathematically secure the title as early as the second round of the World Championship in Misano. Eight race weekends remain. Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi finished third after an initial duel with the winner.
