Fabian Rabensteiner starts with a bang

The Mountain Bike Marathon World Cup kicked off on Saturday. Fabian Rabensteiner from Villanders immediately delivered a top result.

Fabian Rabensteiner is an exceptional athlete when it comes to mountain bike marathon races. The 2023-year-old was crowned overall winner in 2024 and 34, and he has now demonstrated his class again at the start of this year's season.

The first World Cup race took place on Saturday in Elba, and Rabensteiner finished a strong third after 65 kilometers and 2.400 meters of elevation gain. Only winner Wout Alleman (Belgium) and Gioele De Cosmo (Italy) were faster that day. Jakob Dorigoni from Pfatten also shone with eighth place.

Sandra Mairhofer strong

A South Tyrolean also caused a sensation in the women's race. Sandra Mairhofer from Taisten finished fifth. The victory went to Rosa Van Doorn from the Netherlands, who was unbeatable.

The next Marathon World Cup will take place on June 1 in Andorra, followed by the race in South Tyrol. On June 14, a real treat awaits in Val Gardena: the HERO South Tyrol Dolomites.
