Equestrian sport: Eleventh race day in Merano

On Sunday, the third of the big autumn classics, the Ettore Tagliabue Prize, will take place. The hurdle race for three-year-old horses has the status of a Group 3 race, runs over a distance of 3.300 meters and offers prize money of 33.000 euros.

Seven horses from the Czech Republic, Poland and Italy are taking part in the hurdles test for three-year-olds. Josef Vana Jr. is travelling from his training quarters in the Czech Republic with Verde Costellation and Night Of Dreams. The two geldings from the Aichner family's racing stable have already been successful this season. Stable jockey Josef Bartos will be riding Verde Costellation, while Jan Kratochvil will be racing with Night Of Dreams.

A total of 46 horses from Poland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany and Italy will compete in the four obstacle and two flat competitions of the day in Untermais. In addition, a flat competition for Haflinger horses will be held at the start of the race day, in which eight of the strongest mares in the country will take part.

Race starts in Merano at 14 p.m.

The breaks between the races are filled with live musical performances by the duo Raquel Rizzi & Mitia Maccaferri. Children can go pony riding. For an additional charge on the ticket, a tour of the racecourse can be booked, which takes place at 13 p.m. The racecourse opens at 12 p.m., and the races start at 14 p.m.
