Audi boss crashes in Trentino: Italy’s sport mourns

Fabrizio Longo was killed in a tragic mountain accident in the Adamello Mountains. He was Italy's Audi boss and had a deep connection to the sport.

Fabrizio Longo, a great mountain lover and experienced mountaineer, died on Saturday afternoon after falling 3000 meters near the Payer peak at about 200 meters ( Stol reported). Any help came too late.

For decades, 62-year-old Longo worked in the international car industry - first at Fiat, then at Lancia, BMW, Piaggio and Toyota, before moving to Audi in 2013. Most recently, he was responsible for the German car company as Italy director.

Longo leaves a big gap in Italy's motorsport world. However, he was also closely connected to other sports through his diverse sponsorship with Audi.
“This is terrible news” FISI President Flavio Roda

Longo has been a long-time supporter of the Italian Winter Sports Federation in particular. "This is terrible news. We have had a pleasant and profitable collaboration with Longo for years," said FISI President Flavio Roda, who expressed his deepest sympathy. "We would like to support his family and the Audi employees in this difficult moment."
