Darts World Championship: The first semi-finalists have been determined

Gary Anderson can still hope for a third title at the Darts World Championship. The Scot defeated Justin Hood 5-2 at London's Alexandra Palace and has advanced to the semi-finals.

In his first appearance on the world's biggest darts stage, Hood, ranked 86th in the world, reached the quarterfinals as an underdog. Against Anderson, he leveled the score at 1-1 and 2-2 in both sets. His 55-year-old opponent then used his experience to his advantage, winning three sets in a row.

Ryan Searle had already dropped sets for the first time at this World Championship. However, the world number 20 still advanced to the semi-finals thanks to a 5-2 victory against Jonny Clayton of Wales. "This is obviously a huge moment in my career," said Searle. "I think my luck has turned and gone in my favor, especially in this tournament."

Searle dominated the first three sets, but then gave his opponent a glimmer of hope. Clayton, however, was unable to turn the tide. His problems in the doubles proved to be his downfall.
