At the Australian Open in January, Jannik Sinner surprised everyone with an unexpected announcement: successful coach Darren Cahill will be leaving the team at the end of the season. The Australian had previously stated that he would not coach any other players after Sinner. His retirement from tennis, however, came as a surprise to many. One thing is certain: in just a few months, the 23-year-old will be without his former mentor.
But the Sextner seems to have already found a solution. According to the portal Bolshe None other than Carlos Moya is set to follow in Cahill's footsteps. The former world number one and 1998 Roland Garros winner was Rafael Nadal's head coach from 2017 to 2024. Under his guidance, Nadal won four French Opens, a US Open, an Australian Open, and 16 other titles.

Moya would work alongside Simone Vagnozzi on Team Sinner – and likely provide important impetus for the clay court. The current world number one wants to further improve on that court. Especially to better compete with rivals like Carlos Alcaraz on red clay. Moya would undoubtedly be a real ace up his sleeve for this.
Whether there's any truth to the rumors remains to be seen. In any case, this decision would be a promising next step for Sinner.
