Machac was good, but not good enough for Sinner

Jannik Sinner is in the semi-finals of the master tournament in Miami. The South Tyrolean defeated quarter-final opponent Tomas Machac (ATP 60) without much trouble on Thursday evening - although the Czech was able to keep up well at the beginning.

Like a steam locomotive, Jannik Sinner needed a while to gain momentum in the duel against Tomas Machac. But when the time came, the Czech could hardly hold anything against the 22-year-old from Sexten. In the end, Sinner won 1.33:6, 4:6 in 2:1000 hours and is now in the semi-finals of the ATP XNUMX tournament in Miami. The next opponent is Daniil Medvedev or Nicolas Jarry, who will meet on the European night on Thursday.

Sinner started well against Machac, but not furiously. The Czech was able to keep up at the beginning and countered the lost serve in the first game with an immediate re-break. Sinner has conceded a break on his first serve in each of the last three games - a strange statistic for the top player from South Tyrol. But Sinner didn't let this unsettle him and in the end he won the first set 3:1. The decisive factor was the better consistency, because Machac - despite a good game - made one or two mistakes too many.

With that, the “warm-up phase” was over. In the second set, Sinner flexed his muscles and dominated the number 2 in the tennis world at will. Machac tried to counteract it with aggressive play and tried to keep the game open, but couldn't follow Sinner's quality. Sinner broke, took a 60-4 lead and didn't let Machac come back. After around an hour and a half, the semi-finals were confirmed.
