Alexander Weis/Marco Bortolotti unbeatable in doubles

In a thrilling final, the pairing of Weis/Bortolotti had the upper hand against Corrado Summaria/Andrea Guerrieri in the champions tiebreak of the 3rd set with 10:8 - much to the delight of the numerous South Tyrolean tennis fans.

Singles final on Saturday The finalists of the 21st “Sparkassen Trophy” in Rungg are Fabien Reboul (FRA) and Pietro Rondoni (ITA). The 22-year-old Frenchman Reboul (ATP 383), who already won the ITF tournament in Shrewsbury this year, defeated Juan Pablo Ficovich (ATP 431) in the first semi-final game of the day. Ficovich was ahead by one break in both sets, but Reboul first got the break back both times and then added one more as the set progressed. After almost an hour and a half of play, Reboul, who showed solid baseline tennis, left the court as the winner (6:4, 6:4). He was the first finalist in the Rungg ITF tournament.

In the second semi-final, tournament favorite Joao Souza, former number 69 in the world rankings, met Pietro Rondoni (ATP 426). Without fear of the big name facing him, Rondoni set the pace from the start. The 24-year-old Italian, who has already won two Futures titles this year (in Sassuolo and Albinea), implemented this plan perfectly in the first set. After that the game flattened out a bit, Souza got into the game better and won the very even second set in the tiebreak. After 2 hours and 45 minutes, Rondoni converted his second match point to make it 6:3, 6:7 and 6:1.

The final between Rondoni and Reboul is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. It is the first meeting between the two.
