Title joy for South Tyrolean duo in Selva

Pietro and Christian Fellin have had an eventful week – and were able to crown it on Friday in Selva with their first titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

Pietro Fellin, together with his doubles partner and cousin Christian, won the final against the Italian Leonardo Cattaneo and the Finn Oskari Paldanius (6:4, 4:6, 10:7).

The decision was only made in the match tiebreak after both sides had won a set. Pietro and Christian earned six break points in the first set, but the duo from Brixen were only able to convert the last one, which at least sealed the set win.

In the second period, however, the South Tyroleans conceded a break to make it 2:3 and then had no answer. So it went into the match tiebreak, in which Pietro and Christian converted their first match point after 1:31 hours.

For both of them, it is the first title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, which is the third and lowest category in the professional sector after the ATP Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour.

In the singles, however, the South Tyrolean duo was eliminated a little earlier. Christian was defeated in the first round by Tommaso Valo ( 5: 7, 5: 7), Pietro only reached the quarter-finals against Andrea Guerrieri ( 6:3, 1:6, 4:6Guerrieri and Giovanni Oradini will meet in the singles final in Selva on Sunday.
