The adventurous summer of Dorothea Wierer

“You are my role model for how to enjoy the summer”: These words come from the Norwegian biathlete Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen and are addressed to Dorothea Wierer. The ski hunter left this comment under a photo of the 31-year-old in which she can be seen on an idyllic bank near Jesolo - and where the three-time world champion was preparing for a cozy evening with good food.

Such pictures are not uncommon: Wierer enjoyed and enjoys the time between training sessions in various, often paradisiacal places and also lets her fans share in this on social media. The biathlon queen is now followed by almost a million users on various channels - no other ski hunter is as successful in this area. Baywatch and surfing But Wierer also knows how to entertain the fans. At the beginning of June she went on a trip on a motorboat and posed in a classic Baywatch pose, while at the same time she had a lot of fun riding the waves - "Girls just want to have fun", it's that simple. Things were a little more leisurely on the beach vacation, where Wierer enjoyed a cocktail - and promptly received a humorous comment from her biathlon colleague Erik Lesser: "Hey, just drinking." Wierer's counter: "Alcohol-free."

However, the beach, motorboat and good food are just one type of leisure activity for “Doro”. The biathlete also spent a lot of time in the mountains this summer. Sometimes she hiked with her teammates to the Latemar hut “Torre di Pisa”, sometimes she enjoyed a whirlpool at the Isihütte at the foot of the Schwarzhorn, sometimes she went on a tour with natural track toboggan Patrick Pigneter on the Alpe di Siusi. Training is not neglected Dorothea Wierer always has a full program - even if training still takes up most of the time. The woman from Puster covered several kilometers on her bike and roller skis, but the classic dry training wasn't neglected either: in a video, the biathlon queen struggled up a steep climb in a sprint. Nicole Schmidhofer, a ski star from Austria, commented: “This is a killer workout.”

So one thing is clear: Wierer wants to attack again this winter and fulfill his dream of an individual medal at the Olympics. That would be even more adventurous than the turbulent summer of the four-time South Tyrolean athlete of the year.
