A biathlon wedding in a special outfit

There was a very special wedding in the biathlon family recently.

Biathlon was her life for years, but on February 4, 2023, Vanessa Hinz called it quits. After a season marked by infections and injuries, she announced her retirement during an IBU Cup race. Two years have passed since then, but the 2020 individual vice world champion isn't bored in retirement. Also because she's now on cloud nine in her private life.

The 33-year-old recently married. She exchanged vows with her long-time boyfriend in the municipality of Schliersee – wearing an outfit that perfectly matches the two Bavarians. He wore lederhosen and a hat, while she wore a pink dirndl for the ceremony.

Of course, the biathlon colleagues couldn't miss this day, and so the former ski hunters Maren Hammerschmidt and Marion Wiesenarter, among others, attended the wedding ceremony.

Vanessa Hinz is soaring. Just as she has often done during her athletic career. No fewer than seven World Championship medals hang in her trophy cabinet, including three gold medals. Hinz won most of them in relay races, but in 2020 she also took home the silver medal in the individual competition in Antholz. Hinz was also successful at the Olympics (she won bronze in the relay in 2022) and even won a World Cup race, namely in Kontiolahti in March 2018. Now the former biathlete from Bavaria can celebrate her wedding.
