Big biathlon endurance test in Dresden

The new biathlon World Cup season starts in two and a half months. This weekend, however, a prestigious showdown between skiers will take place – with South Tyrolean participation.

This Sunday, Dresden will host the City Biathlon for the first time. The world's best athletes will deliver a thrilling competition in the Saxon state capital. After a chase on the 2,3 km circuit that runs along the historic skyline of the city, the biathletes must prove their steady hand at a small-caliber shooting range in the stadium.

The field of participants is top-class: the men's race includes the Bö brothers Tarjei and Johannes Thingnes, Lukas Hofer, Florent Claude and the Germans Justus Strelow, Philipp Nawrath and Roman Rees. The women's race includes overall World Cup winner Lisa Vittozzi from Italy, the Norwegians Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, Franziska Preuß, Marketa Davidova and Anna Gandler from Austria. Over 3.500 biathlon fans are expected in Dresden - in the stadium alone. In addition to that, there are spectators along the course.
