Last year, Auchentaller made her World Cup debut with an 81st place in Östersund. Like her Antholz friends Rebecca Passler and Linda Zingerle, she was always considered a great talent and always came home with at least one medal at the last three Junior World Championships. This season, Auchentaller initially attracted attention with a win and a second place in the IBU Cup. That's why she qualified for the World Cup in Antholz in January.

At her very first home World Cup, Auchentaller finished 33rd in the pursuit and collected points in the highest biathlon class for the first time. At the same time she also bought the World Cup ticket for Oberhof. Immediately before the title fights, it was not clear how many competitions Auchentaller would even take part in. Due to a new rule from the IBU , which caused a lot of confusion and allowed Italy to field five women in the individual races, she then made her World Cup debut in the sprint.

Gold at the World Cup premiere With places 33, 32 and 22, Auchentaller actually impressed throughout in the individual races. This meant she was even allowed to run in the relay. It is said to have been a close decision between her and Passler. In the end, Auchentaller definitely justified their positioning.
