Røiseland husband joins the biathlon competition

Biathlon Olympic champion Marte Olsbu Røiseland is happy about her husband Sverre's new job, who will be the new discipline coach for the German ski hunters from May 1st. “I’m just very proud of Sverre for getting such an opportunity,” said the 31-year-old Norwegian.

Her husband, who is the same age, will take over the position at the German Ski Association next month and, together with women's coach Kristian Mehringer, will look after the team until the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan/Cortina (the biathlon competitions take place in Antholz). Husband moves to Germany “Coming to such a big biathlon nation is just incredibly great and I’m really happy for Sverre. I think he deserves it very much,” said Marte Olsbu Røiseland. The eleven-time world champion has not yet decided whether she will continue her career. Last winter she won the overall World Cup for the first time and, with a total of 14 World Cup and seven Olympic medals, is one of the outstanding athletes of recent years.

Sverre Olsbu Røiseland, looked after his wife as a trainer in the past and was also active as a coach for the Norwegian biathlon juniors. His contract was not renewed this summer after five years. Most recently he worked for the women's B team. At DSV he follows Florian Steirer. “It’s obviously great to be asked to work in biathlon in one of the big nations.” Sverre Olsbu Røiseland “It's a challenge and something new that will help me become an even better coach and gain new experiences,” Sverre Olsbu Røiseland told the Norwegian daily Verdens Gang and added: “It is of course great to be asked to work in biathlon in one of the big nations.”
