Tandrevold breaks the spell and triumphs in Hochfilzen

In Hochfilzen, after the sprint, a lady who so often “only” stood on the podium next to the winner and did not win a solo race beamed after the sprint. But Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold knew how to make full use of the currently somewhat thinned out field in the world's top women's biathlon (Marte Olsbu Röiseland, Denise Hermann-Wick and Anais Chevalier-Bouchet, among others, have retired) and set the fastest time in the Austrian snow. Second place went to Elvira Öberg (+4,9 seconds) from Sweden, who lost her victory due to a mistake in the shooting. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (+19,7 seconds) from France took third place.

Tandrevold had not won a solo race since her triumph in the mass start on March 21, 2021 in Östersund, and she came second eleven times. With the number 16, the Norwegian started furiously on the Hochfilzen cross-country ski run on Friday, remained accurate at the shooting range and crossed the finish line with the third-best running time. Since all competitors, such as Öberg or Chevalier-Bouchet, who could have denied the 27-year-old's victory, had to compensate for a penalty loop, Tandrevold celebrated only the second World Cup victory of her career.

Lisa Vittozzi (+24,4 seconds) made no mistakes at the shooting range, but couldn't quite keep up with her opponents on the cross-country ski trail and slipped past the podium by less than 5 seconds. In the end, the 28-year-old ended up in fifth place and was able to celebrate another top result.

Wierer falls by the wayside Dorothea Wierer, who had a cold in the days before the sprint, had nothing to do with the awarding of the top positions on Friday either. After placing 14th, 14th and 17th in the races in Östersund (Sweden), the Niederrasner woman also fell short of her expectations on Friday. In the end, Wierer crossed the finish line in 26th time (+1,40,1 minutes). A mistake and a sobering running performance distanced the 33-year-old from the world's best.

Rebecca Passler did not qualify for the pursuit on Saturday (2.58,1:67 p.m.), 14.45:45 minutes behind (2.04,7th place). Two other Azzurre Beatrice Trabucchi (place/55th + 2.34,0 minutes) and the Aostanian Samuela Comola (place XNUMXth + XNUMX minutes) achieved this. Hanah Auchentaller didn't start.
