It's been a while since Tiril Eckhoff was last with her team. To be precise, it was mid-March when everyone toasted to a successful winter after the World Cup finals in Oslo. Since then, the Norwegian has not taken part in any of her fellow competitors' training camps, but has only trained on her own. After the end of the season, she became infected with Corona and didn't listen to her body well enough. So the problems began, especially constant insomnia that bothered her, but not only that. The fact is that the Norwegian trained herself throughout the summer and actually wanted to travel with the team to the training camp in Oberhof in October. But now Patrick Oberegger, the South Tyrolean head coach working for the Norwegians, explained that this is anything but fixed. “The hope was that she would be there in Oberhof. But if she’s unsure and we on the coaching staff are unsure, we might find that she needs more time to herself.” At the start of the season? Oberegger continued: “Tiril trains, some days it is better, some days it is not so good. Now it's not the sport that counts, it's that she's doing well in normal life. That is the most important thing for us. She will then decide when she comes back to us.” So the biathlon world is wondering: Will Tiril Eckhoff be there at the start of the season in Kontiolahti at the end of November?
