Accurate Fillon Maillet triumphs – South Tyroleans make a mistake

The Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet, who remained error-free, edged out sprint winner Vetle Sjastad Christiansen from Norway (one error/+25,9 seconds) and his teammate Simon Desthieux (25,9 errors/+3) on Saturday with a lead of 47,3 seconds and zero shooting errors the places.

Fillon Maillet celebrated his first ever World Cup victory in Antholz this season.

The “Azzurri”, however, were denied a top ten placement. Like Dorothea Wierer before her (see own report) Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch made mistakes, especially at the shooting range. While the Montaler took twelfth place with four penalties, Dominik Windisch didn't get past 24th place with seven penalties.

Too many missed shots Lukas Hofer was in the sprint after his seventh place (SportNews reported) started the race around 46 seconds behind, Dominik Windisch started around 59 seconds later than the winner of the sprint race Vetle Sjastad Christiansen.

Both Hofer and Windisch survived the first prone shooting without any mistakes. While Hofer remained flawless in the second prone stage, Windisch made three mistakes, had to run three penalty laps and fell back to 22nd place.

Hofer fought for a place in the top six for a long time, but then struggled in the standing stage. In the first shooting stage, the Montaler had to run two penalty laps and two more after the second standing stage. So Hofer ultimately had to settle for twelfth place.
