Wild scene at the World Championships: Slalom star completely loses control

He was unintentionally the eye-catcher on the last day of the Ski World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm: the Swede Kristoffer Jakobsen. He was eliminated after only 15 seconds. An unbridled outburst of anger followed.

He was completely fed up after his World Cup exit: Jakobsen let off steam after his early finish in the slalom in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.

The 30-year-old from Scandinavia broke both of his ski poles in front of the cameras – one on the course, one at the finish.

Jakobsen was considered an insider tip for the medal ranks. In the first run, he was in the lead at the first intermediate time, but then fell behind shortly afterwards. He had already taken off his helmet as he rode down the slope, completely annoyed. At the finish, he continued to rage - and slammed his head protection onto the ground with full force. A deep murmur went through the crowd.

Repeated failures

The high dropout rate has been a problem for the Swede for some time. Jakobsen has not finished in four of the nine World Cup slaloms so far this season. In 2021 in Cortina d'Ampezzo he won silver with the team at the World Championships and bronze at the start in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.

In the team combination last Wednesday, Jakobsen drove the fastest slalom of all. After Felix Monsen's downhill, however, that was only enough for eleventh place.
