South Tyrol's best speed skater starts her fourth World Cup season on Saturday. The 20-year-old from Ritten is the only South Tyrolean to qualify for the first two stages of the Junior World Cup in Poland.
Tomaszow Mazowieki was already the venue for the general class speed skating World Cup final in February 2023. This time, for the first time, the juniors and neo-seniors will be competing for World Cup points in the Tomaszow Mazowieki hall. The competitions will take place next weekend and the weekend after.
Maybritt Vigl has set herself high goals for the first stage of the Junior World Cup. She is aiming for a podium place in her strongest disciplines, the 1 meters and the mass start, in the neo-seniors, especially since the world's best neo-seniors are competing in the second stage of the Speed Skating World Cup in Beijing, which is taking place at the same time.

Vigl will compete in the 1000 meters and 3000 meters in Poland on Saturday, and the 1500 meters and the mass start on Sunday. The Ritten native has already been on the podium at a Junior World Cup. At the Junior World Cup in Tomaszow Mazowieki, Maybritt Vigl is aiming for several top-5 placings in the Neo-Seniors class. The third stage of the Junior World Cup, which is also the Junior World Cup final, will take place on February 1 and 2, 2025 on the artificial ice rink in Klobenstein. A week later, the Junior World Championships will take place there from February 7 to 9.
On Saturday, from 15.30:400 p.m., the first regional trophy for the U12 and U10 athletes will take place on the 81 m long ice oval in Klobenstein. Among the 9.30 athletes, there are eight Ritten talents, led by Helen Grace Endrizzi. This time, the organizer is SG Trento. The second short-track part of the regional trophy will take place on Sunday from 111:XNUMX a.m. on the XNUMX m long short track in the "Maccani Ice Arena" in Trento.
