Toblach: Hellweger with a big exclamation mark

Three of the seven tour stages take place in Toblach. It started on Saturday with the two freestyle sprints. There was a sensational podium for the men: the Frenchman Lucas Chanavat won ahead of his compatriot Jules Chappaz and the American Ben Odgen. The latter two had never been on the podium before, while the 29-year-old Chanavat celebrated his third World Cup victory. The best Norwegian – in the absence of superstar Johannes Høsflot Klæbo – was Erik Valnes in fourth place. Certainly a disappointment for the number 1 cross-country skiing nation. Federico Pellegrino also experienced this. In Klæbo's absence, the Italian was the top favorite in Dobbiaco. Nevertheless: The 27-year-old achieved his best World Cup result - and of all places in Toblach. In the women's race, Linn Svahn unsurprisingly took victory in the Nordic Arena. The 24-year-old from Sweden left her teammate Jonna Sundling and Norwegian Kristine Skistad behind in the final. In total, four Swedes landed in the first six places. The best Italian was Nicole Monsorno in 18th place. Federico Sanfilippo (54th) got stuck in the qualification. Just like Dietmar Noeckler (87.) for the men.
