Illegal suit: Nordic combined skier disqualified

The disqualification of top German athlete Nathalie Armbruster caused a stir at the Nordic Combined World Cup.

The 20-year-old overall World Cup champion was disqualified from the ski jumping competition in Otepää, Estonia, because her suit did not comply with the rules. The day before, Armbruster had finished seventh in the World Cup event.

The Norwegian Ida Marie Hagen and the Austrian Johannes Lamparter each secured the daily victories in the so-called Compact format on Sunday with a clear lead.

South Tyroleans are diligently collecting points

Samuel Costa from Val Gardena was once again Italy's best Nordic combined skier, finishing in 20th place. Aaron Kostner, also from South Tyrol, put in a strong performance, finishing in 24th place. Among the women, Daniela Dejori also delivered a convincing performance, finishing in 22nd place.

Japan's Akito Watabe set a remarkable record. The 37-year-old competed in his 296th individual World Cup race on Saturday. This makes him the sole record holder, ahead of Austria's Wilhelm Denifl (295).
