Lake Placid: Just missing the podium
The last luge World Cup before the Christmas break took the athletes to Lake Placid, the 1980 Olympic venue, where several events were extremely close.

In the men's doubles, Ivan Nagler and Fabian Malleier were the best South Tyrolean duo, finishing in fifth place. Victory went to the Americans Marcus Mueller and Ansel Haugsjaa, ahead of the Latvians Martins Bots and Roberts Plume, while Yannick Müller and Armin Frauscher from Austria took third place.
In the women's doubles, Marion Oberhofer and Andrea Vötter missed out on a podium finish, placing seventh. The victory went to Selina Egle and Lara Michaela Kipp from Austria, ahead of the German team of Dajana Eitberger/Magdalena Matschina and the US team of Chev Forgan/Sophia Kirkby.
The women's singles competition was won by Germany's Julia Taubitz. The best South Tyrolean was Verena Hofer in tenth place, while Sandra Robatscher finished twelfth.
