Austrian dominance in Innsbruck – Firiegeler best South Tyrolean

Double victory and 4 athletes in the top 6: Austria's luge athletes made full use of their home advantage at the World Cup in Innsbruck-Igls. Two South Tyroleans also ended up in the top 2.

Dominik Filehner was also unable to do much against the Austrians' superiority on their home track in Igls. The Meransner was ranked 7th as the best South Tyrolean. In addition to last year's overall World Cup winner, Leon Felderer (10th), another South Tyrolean made it into the top 10. Lukas Peccei finished the competition in 17th place, Alex Gufler was 21st.

The Austrians set the tone right at the front. Jonas Müller celebrated his 4th World Cup victory with a clear lead of 0,326 seconds. Nico Gleischer completed the home team's double victory in second place, before the German Max Langenhan (3rd) became the first non-Austrian to appear in the rankings. Since the World Cup in Innsbruck-Igls is also considered a European Championship, Müller can hang the European Championship gold medal around his neck.
