Toboggan madness! Filehner and the doubles team win

The exceptional talent from Meransen and the double-seater duo left the world's best lugers behind and all three were crowned World Cup winners - within just a few hours. Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer even took the lead in the overall World Cup.

The experienced woman from Völs and the 22-year-old from Rodengo celebrated their second victory in a row in the newly introduced women's doubles competition they were already able to cheer in Whistler last week. The two climbed onto the podium in all four races of the season. The result? First place in the overall World Cup!

Vötter and Oberhofer's performance in the USA was a true demonstration of power, as they set the undisputed best time in both runs and thus relegated Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal (Germany) to second place with a clear lead. Caitlin Nash and Natalie Corless (Canada) came third.

There was significantly more thrill Dominik Filehner offered. With a furious comeback, he secured his eighth World Cup victory and at the same time the 40th podium finish of his career. It was his first success in almost three years. In the overall World Cup, Filehner is now close on the heels of the leading Austrian Wolfgang Kiendl, who was not on the podium for the first time this season.

The 29-year-old Olympic bronze medalist conjured up a perfect second run in the Park City ice track and raced from third to first place with the absolute best time of the day. The third-place finisher in the first round, the German veteran Felix Loch (+0,185 seconds), and Austria's 2018 Olympic champion, David Gleirscher (+0,204), were left behind. The surprising half-time leader Jozef Ninis from Slovakia slipped back to eighth place in the final. The young South Tyroleans Leon Felderer and Luke Gufler took places 13 and 16.

Two doubles in the top ten Meanwhile, the doubles team recorded their best result of the season Emanuel Rieder/Simon Kainzwaldner, who took sixth place with the German duo Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken's second win of the season. Ludwig Rieder/Patrick Rastner also made it into the top ten in tenth place, while Ivan Nagler/Fabian Malleier had to settle for 16th place after a crash.

The World Cup program for natural track luge overseas will continue late Saturday evening with the women's singles competition and the sprint races.
