Tobias Müller is a double European champion in sport tobogganing

On Saturday the 18th European Grand Prix took place in two rounds. The best athletes then qualified for a one-run European Championship on Sunday. Already on Saturday it became clear that the race track in Bach, which is unknown to South Tyrolean tobogganers, has more pitfalls than initially assumed. The home team from Austria still had the upper hand on Saturday and played their home advantage perfectly. The Austrians were very successful in both the doubles competition and the two singles competitions. In the women's race, Frischmann Melanie (AUT) couldn't be beat. The 2018 world champion confidently prevailed over the young South Tyroleans Runggatscher Silvia (ASV Villnöss) and Peccei Lara (ASV Wengen – La Val). In the men's category it was the young Bucher Lukas (AUT) who prevailed just ahead of his closest pursuers Müller Tobias (ASC Laugen) and veteran Ehammer Andreas (AUT). It was the latter who couldn't be beaten with his doubles partner Gastl Bernhard. The experienced double from Austria drove very cleverly on the tricky track and, with a performance that demonstrated experience, beat the young Kofler Lukas and Peter Lambacher from Villnöss (his brothers Patrick and Matthias Lambacher were crowned the new world champions in natural track tobogganing in Nova Ponente at almost the same time ) relegate to second place. Third place went to the second strong double team from Austria, Bucher Lukas and Lindner Simon. Tobias Müller wins on Sunday On Sunday at the European Championships, Tobias Müller's hour came. The talented tobogganer from ASC Laugen first crowned himself European champion with his doubles partner Mair Tobias with a courageous ride in a truly heart-stopping finale. The team was a mere hundredth of a second faster than second-placed Bucher/Lindner (AUT) and four hundredths faster than third-placed Ehammer/Gastl. Müller then followed up his good performance in the doubles competition with action in the singles competition. With a brilliant ride he gave the competition no chance. The also very strong Wechselberger Alois (AUT) and Müller's teammate from ASC Laugen Frei Sebastian did not come close to Müller's time and took second and third place. For the women, Frischmann Melanie was once again the woman of the hour. However, the exceptional sledder from Austria faced strong competition from the South Tyrolean women. So in the end it was a narrow victory ahead of Runggatscher Silvia (ASV Villnöss) and Peccei Lara (ASV Wengen – La Val).
